LinkAja to become Indonesia’s largest digital payment service: Finarya. PT Fintek Karya Nusantara (Finarya), a company established by a number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), finally launched on Sunday its LinkAja platform, aimed at becoming the largest digital payment service in the country.
Finarya CEO Danu Wicaksana said the company would offer various services through LinkAja, including in the retail segment for transactions for food and beverages and other daily needs.
“The F&B [food and beverage] segment is only a small part of our service. Payment point online banking [PPOB] services like transactions data, electricity and fuel purchased will be part of a larger portion,” Danu said on the sidelines of the LinkAja launch in Jakarta.
Unlike its competitors, he added, LinkAja would not only focus on big cities but also penetrate remote rural areas to help expand financial inclusion.
Danu explained that LinkAja also eyed transactions in the transportation sector, like the commuter line, MRT, light rail transit (LRT) and toll roads.
“[For toll road transactions], we will produce QR code stickers that could be attached to cars, and devices installed at toll road gates could scan the stickers. Drivers do not need to stop to carry out transactions,” Danu said as quoted by kontan.co.id.
LinkAja will also run a remittance business in cooperation with state-owned lenders to facilitate Indonesian migrant workers who work overseas send money to their families at home, said Bank Mandiri corporate secretary Rohan Hafas.
Danu said that LinkAja could currently be used for transactions in Singapore, and in the future, it could also be used for transactions in Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. LinkAja to become Indonesia’s largest digital payment service: Finarya (bbn, The Jakarta Post)
