Therefore, decisionmakers are being advised to gather and manage data to gain more informative insights.

With concerns over public knowledge about using data, the Indonesia Lokadata Conference (ILOC) 2019 will be held on Aug. 28 in the grand ballroom at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski in Central Jakarta.

The conference was organized by online news platform beritagar.id and the platform’s Lokadata, which deals in research and data analysis with the Executive Office of the President.

Herman Kwok, CEO of Lokadata, said confusion about managing data should not happen in this era of advanced technology. “With sophisticated technology like computer-based AI, it should be easier to collect and manage data, even big data,” said Herman in an official statement.

Open to the public, the conference will cover different fields, such as business, marketing, the creative industry, e-sports and tourism. It will also discuss how decisionmakers work based on data and will feature various speakers from private companies and the government.

Keynote speakers will be National Development Planning Minister/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) head Bambang Brodjonegoro, Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko and Djarum Foundation president director Victor R. Hartono.

Other speakers will be David Tarigan of music archive website Irama Nusantara, digital payment platform OVO chief data officer Vira Shanty, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, The Jakarta Post chief editor Nezar Patria and Indonesia E-sports Premiere League president Giring Ganesha.

The ILOC 2019 will be followed by the Ideathon road show across Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and West Kalimantan. The Ideathon will discuss open government under Data Collaboration for Public Service Innovation.
