Catching up with the phenomenon, a number of Indonesian universities are offering specialized courses or study programs related to the industry.
In the programs, students will be able to learn knowledge and skills in designing and developing various applied technologies in the gaming world, as well as sharing their ideas.
Listed below are five universities that offer such programs, compiled by Kompas.com.
- Bina Nusantara University
Binus University in Jakarta and Bandung offers a study program that focuses on game design, ranging from design and art to programming.
Collaborating with Apple Academy, Binus’ Game Application and Technology in its School of Computer Science uses Apple as its platform in designing games.
- Multimedia Nusantara University
Multimedia Nusantara University in Tangerang offers a course for gaming production.
Students who are interested in game technology can enroll in the Visual Communication Design Study Program (DKV), in which they will learn specific visual design as preparation for getting into the gaming industry.
- Ciputra University
The Informatics Engineering Study Program in Surabaya’s Ciputra University aims to keep track of the latest developments in information and communication technology.
The campus provides the opportunity for students to develop their own ideas, one of which is game development.
Ciputra University collaborates with Apple Developer Academy Program and students will be able to take part in an international mobile development course.
- Bandung Institute of Technology
The campus recently opened the Digital and Game Media Technology department, hoping to produce quality graduates in the field of digital media, technology and games.
The program offers courses on design, analysis and development applications.
- Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology
The Computer Engineering Study Program on the Surabaya campus is housed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
