Still popular, Pinterest attracts more than 250 million monthly users. Photo-sharing website and app Pinterest reportedly attracts over 250 million monthly users.
The network’s co-founder, Evan Sharp, said in a statement on Monday that around 80 percent of new users were coming from outside the United States.
“At a time when the internet can feel increasingly negative and politicized, we think it’s remarkable that a quarter of billion people are choosing to spend their time on Pinterest, a place that helps them feel positive and optimistic about the future,” said Sharp.
Launched in 2010, Pinterest has been recognized as a source of inspiration as it allows users to easily “Pin” their favorite photos available on the network.
In addition to the user growth, Sharp also mentioned that the network now has more than 175 billion Pins to explore, an increase of 75 percent compared to the previous year.
Users save all kinds of different ideas, including products they love, style ideas, art and do-it-yourself projects.
Among the ideas, the products category has grown 115 percent, followed by the art category growing 50 percent.
“According to a Nielsen study, 98 percent of Pinners go out and try ideas they find on Pinterest — way more than the 71 percent social media platform average. Other apps are about connecting with friends and inviting more people to join. Pinterest is your place to reconnect with yourself,” said Sharp.
