The trade event is to be held at Singapore EXPO from Oct. 16 to 18 and will host 200 industries from 10 countries. It is expected to be attended by 10,000 visitors from 30 countries, said Singex Holdings PTE LTD CEO Aloysius Arlando, recently.

“This is the first integrated trade event on Industry 4.0 designed to meet various needs of enterprises and economies,” Arlando said at ITAP preview press conference.

Media, telecommunications and banking sectors that have felt the influence of digital technologies, as well as the manufacturing sector, have started to look for ways to exploit digital technologies for better performance, he added.

“Asia is well poised to lead the way as the world’s new growth frontier and to reap the full benefits of Industry 4.0 growth,” he said, citing that manufacturing economy in ASEAN is the fifth-largest in value-added terms.

He said Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia had already launched separate 4.0 policy roadmaps in their countries, and Singapore had just recently launched the Singapore Smart Industry Readiness Index to encourage the application of Industry 4.0.

SingEx executive director James Boey said the trade event would take a “learning journey” approach where visitors and their industries would be guided the moment they enter the event venue. He said visitors at the event would be able to listen to over 100 speakers in the industry as well as technical tours to 10 selected industries in Singapore that have implemented and offered solutions on industry 4.0.
