Indonesian students win second place at Airbus aerospace competition.Indonesian students from the University of Cambridge won second place at the Airbus Fly Your Ideas, a first in the competition’s history.
The team of students who named themselves Team AirFish (Airbus Integrated Fisheries Information Services), comprising Falah Fakhriyah, Martin Siagian, Nathan Harjanto and a Japanese student named Keiko Miyazaki, beat the other 269 submissions to win a cash prize of 10,000 euros (US$11,330) with their idea of protecting the ocean with remote sensing.
Team AirFish was among seven finalist teams that was given the opportunity to develop a prototype of their ideas in Toulouse, France, for a week using Airbus’ R&D facilities.
The first place winner was Team “Zero” Heroes from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands that proposed smart battery-less wireless switches for aircraft systems. The team took home a cash prize of 25,000 euros
Launched in 2008, more than 22,000 students from over 700 universities and 100 countries have participated in Fly Your Ideas, which challenges students to create aerospace innovations in six main subjects: Electrification, Data Services, Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality.
