Indonesia launches platform to support SDGs achievement. The Finance Ministry launched  on Friday SDG Indonesia One, a platform for infrastructure development financing with an orientation to support the sustainable development goal (SDGs) agenda, a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations to eradicate poverty.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the government had done its best to reduce the gap between financial needs and the available funds to support the development with an orientation to achieve the agenda.

“The government has established this platform of integrated financing to support the achievement of the SDGs in Indonesia,” said Sri Mulyani, during the launch of the platform.

The integrated financing is supported by various stakeholders, she said, adding that the funds collected through the platform had already reached US$2.3 billion.

The government has assigned state-owned financing company PT Sarana Multi Infrastructure (SMI) to establish and manage the platform, the minister added.

SMI president director Emma Sri Martini explained that SGD Indonesia one would facilitate all stakeholders that wanted participate in financing the infrastructure projects through a combination of various financing instruments.

“SMI believes through this platform, we encourage inclusive development by considering social, economic and environmental aspects,” Emma said.

The launch of the platform was also attended by representatives of various organizations, including CK Hutchison Holdings and Li Ka Shing Foundation, which donated US$2 million and $3million respectively for the reconstruction of earthquake and tsunami-hit areas in Central Sulawesi through SDG Indonesia One.
