Independent energy firm Pacific Oil & Gas (PO&G), a subsidiary of Sukanto Tanoto’s Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group, is currently examining more investment possibilities in the country’s energy industry, particularly in the upstream oil and gas as well as electricity sectors, it has said in a statement published on Monday.

In the statement, PO&G president director Kusnan Rahmin said the company cooperated mainly with state firm Pertamina to develop new blocks in the country.

“PO&G is quite prepared to help the government in achieving the [35,000 megawatt] electricity provision target, especially in developing its new gas-fueled power plants,” Kusnan said in Monday’s statement.

He added that the company planned to partake in some of the government’s 7,000 MW project to be generated from natural gas, and part of the targeted 35,000 MW power project.

Kusnan elaborated that so far, PO&G was already developing several oil and gas blocks domestically, including its 55 percent ownership of Kisaran Block in North Sumatra and 25 percent ownership of Jambi Merang Block in South Sumatra.

Aside frok domestic developments, PO&G claimed to have years of experience in developing foreign blocks, such as in China, where the company owns the 780-megawatt Xiamen Combined Cycle Gas Turbine in Fujian. PO&G also has projects in Brazil, Canada and Spain.
