Foreign currency savings decreases: LPS The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has reported that bank savings on foreign currencies had decreased in February, while savings in rupiah had increased.

The foreign currenct savings decreased by 0.35 percent month-on-month (mom) in February to Rp735.05 trillion (US$51.45 billion) from Rp737.66 billion in January, said LPS corporate secretary Samsu Adi Nugroho in a statement on Thursday.

“Meanwhile, bank savings in rupiah increased by 0.5 percent mom to Rp4.59 quadrillion from Rp4.58 quadrillion in January,” Samsu added.

LPS also recorded a decrease in the number of saving accounts for foreign currencies.

In February, the number of saving accounts in foreign currencies was 1,008,083 accounts, a decrease of 0.23 percent compared to 1,010,404 accounts in January.

“The number of saving accounts in rupiah increased by 1.87 percent mom from 245,282,973 accounts in January to 249,858,135 accounts in February,” Samsu said. Foreign currency savings decreases: LPS  (bbn, Anton Hermansyah, The Jakarta Post)
