The Indonesian government has implemented its electrification program in 1,008 more villages this year. With that figure, the total number of villages to have received electricity networks has reached 73,149.

“By the end of 2016, the number of villages that had been electrified reached 72,141,” said the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry’s electricity director general, Endy Sommeng, in Jakarta on Tuesday as reported by tribunnews.com.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Rofik from stateowned electricity company PT PLN explained that this year his company would continue its village electrification program, both by providing additional connections to villages that have already been the beneficiaries of the program and by providing new connections to villages that have not yet received attention in this field.

He explained that in Sumatra, 232 villages would get additional connections and 355 villages would be electrified.

In Java and Bali, 2,315 villages will get additional connections and 515 villages will be electrified.

In Kalimantan, 122 villages will get additional connections and 87 villages will be electrified.

In Sulawesi, 441 villages will get additional connections and 301 villages will be electrified.

In Nusa Tenggara, 64 villages will get additional connections and 528 villages be electrified.

In Maluku, seven villages get additional connections and 212 villages will be electrified. (bbn, The Jakarta Post)
